Nuevo del Mar’s fishmonger pulls a chair out for her to sit, and Amelia waves the action away with a smile of thanks. She doesn’t plan on staying long. “I just wanted to know if I’d missed some kind of island holiday or something,” she says, eyes darting from eye to eye. “When I left last night, there was a fish on my doorstep.”
The Old Shipwright hums. “Probably Tiburón paying respects.”
“Who’s that?”
“Not a who,” The Cook says. It’s clear that more of the bar’s population is listening in on Amelia’s conversation than she’d anticipated. “A what.”
