Bella stood outside the Blacks’ house. The porch light’s yellow glow cast a dim halo over Billy, while Sam stood beside him, a steady hand resting on his shoulder as Jacob’s screams filled the late-night air.
Her stomach lurched.
Her fault.
It was the only thought her mind would allow to fully form.
If she’d just listened to Edward all those months ago—if she’d stayed clear of him and the Cullens—Jacob wouldn’t be locked away in his room, his back shattered. Carlisle wouldn’t be standing on enemy territory, risking his life just to mend the spine of a sixteen-year-old boy. At the end of New moon after Jacob shifts he imprints on Edward. Jacob takes up being Edwards best friend/brother/guardian believing he would want to stay together with Bella. Their relationship is strong and happy.
But unlike other imprint stories about a month later an ancient trickster spirit of the Quileute named Bayaq (The Raven) sends Jacob back into time to 1916 two years before Edward becomes a vampire.
Jacob has no idea why the trickster would do this but it has been known to also help his tribe just as much as harm it. So is this a gift or a horrible prank?
