Summary
"I could have made Grisha safe, but you never gave me a choice."
“Perhaps,” the Darkling says, eyes tilted up towards Alina. “What would you do, then?”
Alina blinks. “What would I do?”
Aleksander nods slowly, almost solemn. “Tell me, Alina. If you took the power that I’m freely offering, how might you use it?"
☀️
Au where Alina decides to accept Aleksander’s thinly veiled “rule the world with me” proposal. Just me casually rewriting like, basically the entire end of this conversation so it goes the way I think would have been more fun lol.Series

Summary
"Me, summoning the sun, taking over the world, and looking amazing while doing it. Huh. I quite like that idea."
Or: The one where Alina Starkov uses a fellow cartographer as a human shield, completely ruins Mal's life with a fake-cry performance, and winks at the Darkling on her way to a luxury carriage. This world isn’t ready for self entitled Alina Starkov.

Summary
Alina Starkov doesn’t trust people.
It’s one of her rules, and by far the most important one; don’t trust anyone, especially not about what you can do.
She has grown up knowing about her powers and nurturing them until they became exceptional, learning about them from a rational and logical point of view, and she’s done it all on her own.
Some would call her selfish for refusing to fulfill her so-called ‘destiny’ as the Sun Summoner at banishing the Fold, but selfishness is another thing she’s very good at. She has no desire of being anyone’s savior as she knows the cost for it; her freedom.
But you can only outrun fate for so long.
Since the beginning of time it has been widely known that darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.

Summary
Alina fails to hide her powers when the Grisha examiners visit.
'I would have gone to the Little Palace and been spoiled and pampered. I would have dined off golden plates, and I never would have struggled to use my power. It would have been like breathing, the way it always should have been. And in time, I would have forgotten Keramzin.'
