Summary
A historical AU set in 1990s Philadelphia during the HIV crisis.
It’s been ten months since Erwin died, and Levi is walking home from a party late one night when he comes upon a kid getting beaten half to death. In a spur-of-the-moment decision, he invites Eren, a homeless runaway, into his house and his life. The two develop a friendship and begin to confront their pasts.
He first saw the kid getting the shit kicked out of him outside the flophouse at 13th and Spruce. The two guys were angry. The taller one kept kicking, flailing wildly while the kid scrabbled in the rain, reaching for a broken beer bottle glinting in the gutter, wedged between the kerb and the wheel of a parked car.
He kept screaming, “I’ll kill you!”
Levi thought he probably would have, too.
It was pissing rain, cold little needles that got under your collar and left your hands and ears numb. Philadelphia rain, the damp and humidity sitting over the grey city and seeping into your bones. Levi stood for a moment in the darkness between the yellow spotlights of the street lamps, watching the two guys brutalise the kid before he cleared his throat.

Summary
The Founder Ymir is said to be many things: goddess, progenitor, puppet, slave, and ghost, but once she was just a girl. An exploration and elaboration of Ymir’s canon backstory and character motivations.
Grandmother fretted as she prepared a drink to augur the future.
“Soon it will be your twelfth summer,” Grandmother said as she built a fire in the ring of stones. “You’ll be a woman soon.”
The way Grandmother said this, it sounded like a threat rather than the natural way of things. Ymir scowled.
“Think of your husband, Ymir. Grandfather will betroth you to Ulf at midsummer if the signs are fortuitous.”
Ymir hadn't eaten since the night before, and her empty stomach gurgled in complaint. Her whole body roiled in rebellion. She never wanted to become a wife. Better to be born a boy and become a warrior. She imagined herself with a shining sword, riding a warhorse and felling enemies — Eldians or Marleyans or anyone else who threatened her village. There was a flash of recognition, and she saw bodies falling to pieces in her hands, men fleeing in terror. A surge of triumph passed through her.

Summary
Just before the winter holidays, Allison receives some life-altering news: the dual blow of a cancer diagnosis and the impending closure of her workplace, a small liberal arts college struggling to adapt to the changing higher education environment.
Allison stepped out of the elevator, her clogs shuffling dejectedly over the white linoleum. There was a whoosh of cool air as someone exited through the automatic doors, scurrying into the dark of the parking lot. A string of blinking, coloured lights was hung cheerfully across the Plexiglas divider separating the woman at the information desk from the contagious masses. The receptionist wore scrubs and a headband with two Santa hats wobbling merrily above her blonde head. It was dark outside, the sun having slunk behind the Berkshire hills while Allison was informed of her impending death. The doctor had been young and apologetic, with a long face and distractingly sensuous lips. He was vaguely familiar, and as he opened the door to send her out into the world under the weight of her unexpectedly truncated life, she had the appalling realisation that she had swiped right on his smiling photo several times over the last three years.

A free verse poem.
In retrospect everything looks inevitable.
We’re sorry time travellers,
moving through life one second at a time,
never to return to the past.

Summary
Annie’s journey to motherhood. An angsty, slow, introspective post-war character study.
“I know we talked about it,” he begins, and she already knows what he's going to ask. “But everything is so much better now. What do you think about having a baby?” Armin says.
Annie shudders at the thought of her bloodstained hands cradling a new life. “I’m not meant to be a mother,” she tells him.
He kisses her neck and drapes himself across her, stifling his own desires. Armin is good at stifling and denying and detaching himself from anything painful or inconvenient. This is how he moves through each day with confidence and ease, a calm, rational, commanding presence. It's only in his dreams that sublimated pain breaks through.
“If that's how you feel.”
He doesn't ask her again.

Summary
The Attack on Titan universe is SOOO miserable! Titans, child soldiers, death & destruction everywhere you turn, straight up fascism, mind controlling oligarchy… YIKES. I think one reason this world is so fucked is that they don’t have the simple pleasures that make life worth living (or at least more bearable): music, art, really anything but survival and misery. At the very least not within the walled society of Paradis. This is an AU where music actually exists & is a major part of society, following Armin, Mikasa, & Eren thru college and their various musical experiences. Mirroring my own experience in music school, this project will be an attempt at processing my life experiences and sharing some of my worldview, thru the eyes of our beloved AOT dream team. Minor characters are all from AOT & may or may not reflect/parodize real people I’ve met, with efforts made to avoid going too out of character.
I also plan to make a concerted effort (pun intended) to include an audio clip of a musical performance in each chapter! To make it more fun! Sometimes they will be my own compositions/recordings, and when they are not I will attribute accurately & provide links/references/context for y'all <3
