Summary
Cuno’s deciding whether he’s still on speaking terms with his pig. True, the pig stole his speed. But that’s just the nature of pigs. Maybe the pig can’t help it.
***
KIM KITSURAGI – “But are you prepared for a long-term commitment? If you keep coming around, he might start to expect it, and if you stop...”
EMPATHY – If you stop, or move on to your next mind project, it might make things worse than they were before you started. If Cuno has someone showing him kindness, it might hurt worse when it stops, because he was finally getting used to it.
INLAND EMPIRE – Will it truly make it worse? Or will he just realize how bad it was?
VOLITION – Kindness is rarely a complete mistake.
YOU – “Look, today he has food in his belly, when he didn’t before. Tomorrow he might even come talk to me. Even if I, I dunno, die from a heart attack in a month, at least he’ll remember the stuff I did.”

Summary
JEAN VICQUEMARE – “Fuck it.” Vicquemare shoves the key roughly into the lock and turns it. He turns to you, pointing a finger aggressively. “You’re staying at my place tonight. In the bed. I’ll take the couch. We’ll come back to deal with this shit tomorrow with actual fucking cleaning shit.” He shoves his keys into his pocket and hauls your arm over his shoulders, glowering. The three of you begin the slow progress back through the hallway and down the stairs.
Harry's apartment is disgusting, Kim's concussion is giving him vertigo. Guess Jean has to take care of everyone. Again. God-fucking-shit.

Summary
“Let me get this straight.” Captain Ptolemaios Pryce steeples his fingers, a gesture that makes every officer in the 41st clench their assholes in anticipation of the majestic fucking that they’re about to receive. “Harrier threw Bevy’s desk out the window because Bevy refused to call him ‘The Detective Lord’...”
“Detective God, sir,” Jean Vicquemare says. "Not Detective Lord."

Jean deals with the aftermath of Harry's drunken rampage; Trant tries to help. They meet halfway.

Summary
Five months after Martinaise, Harry is back in Jamrock with a hyperactive twelve-year-old (illegally) in his care and a partner who (justifiably) hates his guts. A dismembered foot turns up and Old South has an anarchist problem that the ICP wants gone.
Then a new lieutenant joins the precinct, one that Harry feels oddly drawn to. He finds himself caught between raising a child, deciphering his new feelings and solving a case, all whilst not relapsing and proving Jean right about him being unable to get better.
