Summary
Derek Hale didn’t expect getting lost in his own neighborhood to change anything—until the night he frightened a stranger in a dark alley without meaning to. Stiles Stilinski is deaf, skittish, stubborn, all sharp eyes and quiet panic, a notebook clutched to his chest, and a silence Derek doesn’t understand until much later. Soon Stiles is stepping into Derek’s messy loft, borrowing his books, drinking his tea, and filling Derek’s quiet spaces with the warm, steady presence Derek didn’t know he needed.
Things begin to get tricky when Derek realizes that his erotic stories more and more star Stiles instead of the usual sexy female heroine. But everything's under control until one day, Stiles is curled on Derek’s couch reading the manuscript he never intended anyone to see. Derek isn’t sure what terrifies him more: getting lost in the dark with no one to help him or Stiles recognizing the pieces of himself hidden in the pages.

Derek scowls at the page, tempted to flip straight to the back. But in the corner in tiny letters:

With a huff, he does.
The next page has the present date and a short message:Here we are on the first day of me gone. I am on my way to get properly educated and you are on your way to find a treasure chest. Wipe that frown off your face, Sourwolf.
We are both beginning an adventure, so put on something comfortable and pack a change of underwear.There’s an actual treasure map taped to the page.

He held Stiles’ face like it was the most precious thing and licked Stiles’ neck like he owned it. A kiss was the first thing to greet Stiles in the mornings they spent together, and at nights, it was the last thing he felt on his face. Each time was more desperate than the last.
Derek told him he was made to be kissed. It was a reward, a pleasure, a relief.
And then, after all of this, he would disappear. For two days, three, or for a week. Stiles would choke from the thought that this time he definitely ruined it (how? god, how?), and then, in a click of a light, Derek would come back as if he were always there. Calling from a hidden number, cupping his chin, tugging Stiles closer with his hand splayed on his back, so big and insistent. Kissing, loving, refusing to let go.
But only in a closed room, in the darkest corner of a restaurant, in a black sports car with its windows thick and tinted.
Stiles dreaded saying goodbye.
