Summary
No one really knows how it began. Be that as it may, they do know how it comes to pass.
After they're born, every darrow will pick their weapon. Even if they are not destined to be warriors, they will always have it by their side just in case trouble finds them.
That being said this weapon also has other uses as well.
Other species have a hard time finding their true love; their One. The darrows had found a way to make it simple, as only the other half of their soul is able to lift, let alone wield their weapon.
That being said, only two of the darrows in the Company of Thorin Oakinshield had found their Ones. After such a long time of not even coming close, Bofur thought he was doomed to be alone, and he had come to accept that.
That is until a little Hobbit changed everything on a horrible yet wonderful day (or was it night? After about a week or so of not seeing daylight it's hard to tell) in the dungeons of Thranduil's palace.

Summary
Bilbo might be a bit peculiar as far as hobbits go. He might be a lonely bachelor that has run off with a group of dwarves – the scandal! – but in one aspect he is just like every other hobbit.
He loves to cook and knows, by heart, the recipe to make when courting someone.
Now if only he could find his mint.

Summary
"'ullo again, Mister Baggins," the toymaker drawls, without turning around, and Bilbo laughs as he straightens up and steps into the candlelight.
It's still early enough into the evening that Bofur surely does not truly need to light the tapers as yet, but he's engaged in something delicate, it seems, his thick fingers busy on a knob of wood and his paring knife - he doesn't even look up when Bilbo circles the table to have a look.
"Someday you'll have to tell me how it is that you always know that I'm there."

Summary
Bilbo is a self-reliant hobbit thank you very much. He may not be as strong as Dori, or as intimidating as Dwalin, or even as clever a thief as Nori, but he did just fine on his own. At least he seemed to think so. But what did they expect from him right out of the gate? A wizard-strengthed hobbit? He knew he was not what they expected, or even wanted. Especially Thorin, and he did not need to be reminded of it with every hitch, every mistake in the road he made. And what is worse? The patronizing aid. Bofur especially being overly helpful, overly caring at times for him when all he wanted was to prove he didn't need their coddling. But what if it was a mistake on his part to jump to conclusions about Bofur's actions? He could just be friendly, he was friendly. One of the few he could say with certainty would miss him if he left. Not because he was their burglar, but because they were friends.
Bofur enjoyed the simple halfling's company. And as when most strangers meet, it was not all pleasantries and easy going. But they started getting along and he felt rather fond and protective. Then it grew. Well, one thing for it that was for sure. To court another, one must make all efforts to their safety and comfort.

Summary
For the Hobbit Reverse Big Bang, 2014:
In the Shire, the biggest event of the year is always the Harvest Festival, filled with toys, games, haggling, dances, and ale. But every three years were known among the Hobbits as the Dwarf Festival, when the dwarves could come down from the Blue Mountains and haggle for goods while selling their own wondrous creations. There was always a proper decorum upheld, of course, between two such different races. It was all about business between the Hobbits and the Dwarves.
At least, it was until a young Dwarf named Bofur made the acquaintance of one Master Bilbo Baggins, of Bag End. Then it became all about...baking?
