Grace has been on Erid for quite some time now, living life to the best of his ability from within the confines of the biodome Rocky and his team erected for him. Its been perfect, aside from the fact that Grace was on borrowed time and his body was beginning to protest every movement he made. So, with Grace's health beginning to degrade beyond repair and after he made the mistake of showing Rocky the movie, Avatar, Rocky starts a secret project that has the potential to change everything.

Summary
Homology Directed Repair: a natural cellular pathway used in gene editing to incorporate new genes into the DNA.
Six years into his stay on Erid, and Grace has a problem. It was becoming clear that it was nearly impossible to create an environment here that was totally free of heavy metals. They permeated the air, they clung to dust and rocks and the outsides of the exosuits, and they literally flowed through the bodies of the residents. Including him.
With his health declining, and no viable alternatives, Grace and the science thrums decide to take a chance on a risky procedure; altering Grace's DNA to give him an Eridian's resistance to heavy metal poisoning.
