    Seonghwa is a former prince whose kingdom was annexed by the empire five years ago. During the fall of his kingdom, Seonghwa is taken prisoner and brought to the capital as a gladiator, forced to compete in the brutal games put on by the emperor. He becomes the most popular fighter. The people call him the hand of Mars, but his strength in battle is only fuelled by one thing: the wish to take revenge for his people, his country. When the young emperor makes him his private guard, Seonghwa sees an opportunity.

    Behind the facade of the cruel emperor, however, lies a human being with a fear of intrigue and treason. Emperor Hongjoong hopes that Seonghwa’s protection will bring him something more than just safety.
