According to the rumor mill, a secret love affair with the conductor of the Scarlet Singers forced Agatha to quit and part ways with the choir she first found her voice in. Rio Vidal, a child prodigy classical music performer, finishing her doctorate under Dr Lilia Calderu. For her final assignment she is challenged to explore other aspects of classical music performance and ends up having to audition for the Coven Chorus, the new trailblazing chamber choir on campus.
Agatha, who has no time to inflate other’s egos, sees straight through Rio at the audition when the overconfident singer arrives. Something about Rio, be it her voice, confidence or just the way she stared down the great Professor Agatha Harkness, lets Agatha hesitate on taking a chance on Rio.
