Summary
It has been suggested that White Diamond got her ideas of how she had to be and run things from simply being told so by some Even Higher Power, but personally, I'd find this a little repetitive and not all that interesting, so here is an exploration of the Diamonds' backstory and, by extension, the origins of the gempire.
The other Diamonds come in in the second chapter.
EDIT: I’ve decided to finish it after all. You can thank those three or four people who left sad comments regarding my post-"volleyball" ragequit..

Summary
Trisha Elric awakens from the longest nightmare of her life with a gasp. Already the details have scattered, leaving her heart and mind racing with no idea what she’s afraid of. She sits up, frantically looking around to assure herself that she’s safe. Home. But why did she fall asleep in the basement? She can’t remember...
Ed and Al manage the impossible, but the cost was higher than they could've expected, leaving them with only an incomplete body and two souls to share it. It changes less than one might think.
