He tried to go back to his plan. Brewing something mercifully fatal and apparating somewhere quiet and isolated. But he couldn’t bring himself to feel the same conviction he felt earlier. Unfortunately, he wanted to live. He craved so badly to come out on the other side alright and finally see all of his work pay off. For just a bit of reprieve. And now he had a path open to him. A dismal one, but a path nonetheless.

Fifth year started out horribly for Harry already. He had to attend a trial and then got stuck with Umbridge and her 'detentions'. He starts seeing Tom Riddle as the year goes on, but more of an aged up version of the boy he saw in the Chamber during second year. Not the snake-like thing he was now. He quickly realizes he isn't just seeing him and that the thing can physically affect him.

If you had asked anyone about the black haired boy in Hogwarts, they wouldn’t tell you that he was wise beyond his years, or that he’d matured faster than was expected oh. All they would tell you was that he was a troubled and dark teenager, who didn’t deserve any form of pity.
Because? You might ask, well. It was because everyone thought of him as some sort of future master of evil. A traitor to the light, so he deserved nothing less. He was their punching bag, the poor little future traitor.
But what if Hogwarts Punching bag leaves his own fate. Changing it to as he sees fit.
(I know theres already information about Ilvermony on the wiki. But likeeeeee, I don't care. I'll create my own worldbuilding, because JK Rowling's worldbuilding is so strange)

Himself after he’d screamed awake for the hundredth time and his Uncle had come in and expressed his anger. There were bruises along his arms, neck and face. His lip was split and dripping blood slightly, unlike his nose that had a small steady stream. There was a clear handprint around his throat from a much bigger hand than could be left by another kid. The Boggart smirked at him, but Harry felt cold everywhere. He felt incredibly cold or incredibly numb, he wasn't sure which. Maybe it was both.

Death simply chuckled, guiding Harry towards the train. The experience was similar to when Harry had first entered Kings Cross in his first year.
