When the kid just bared his teeth in what could be generously described as a grin, if one were to squint and generally have the vision quality of a mole, Jason turned back to the rapidly paling Tim. "You want to sweep the place for signs of Nightwing while I wrap things up with junior over here?"
"Junior," the kid scoffed, which was real fucking rich for someone who was an inch or two from being strictly categorized as fun-sized. "Fuck off."
"Hey, watch your mouth. Kids who don't know times tables aren't allowed to swear."
"I can multiply just fine, jackass."
"Hood," Tim cut in, voice squeaky like it'd been squeezed-compressed-squashed ten times over. "I don't need to keep looking for Dick. He's right there."

Jim Gordon learned that early, back when Batman was a new phenomenon in Gotham. When he was very much alone, short on allies, hated and feared by most of the police force with nearly as much intensity as the criminals on the streets.
Years later, it seems Red Hood is determined to prove that whatever his dad can do, he can do better. Or worse, where injuries are concerned.
(Part one: Gordon helps an injured first-year Batman. Part two: Gordon intervenes when an injured Red Hood is caught in a bad situation. Part of that intervention involves calling his dad.)

In the dark apartment, with Chuuya in his arms, half delirious and wholly broken, the softness seeps into Dazai’s voice unbidden.
“We’re at your place, I’m going to put you in bed. And you’re going to be nice this time.”
Chuuya hides his face under the coat thrown over him, rests his head against Dazai, and hums.
It could be an agreement, not that it means anything. He’s not really here, not fully, and these things are never nice. Dazai won’t resent him for it.
OR: Dazai takes care of post-corruption Chuuya. Except this time, Arahabaki keeps coming back.

“Breathe,” Chuuya says. “This is gonna hurt like a bitch.”
Dazai’s lips twitch. “Doesn’t Chuuya have anything for me to bite on?”
Chuuya pauses despite himself. “…I thought that,” he starts, then stops. He clears his throat, eyes flicking briefly to the floor before coming back to Dazai’s face. “Because of Dostoyevsky. I thought maybe—”
Dazai waves one hand dismissively, the motion weak but sharp with irritation. “Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because that holier-than-thou demon’s been leaving me gagged for days, you think I wouldn’t want anything in my mouth.”
He grins when he says it. It’s a perfect imitation—angle of the mouth, familiar lilt—but his eyes are flat, glassy in a way that has nothing to do with humor. “I don’t,” he adds. Then, after a beat: “I also don’t want Chuuya to hear me scream.”
or: dazai gets kidnapped and tortured. chuuya gets him back, and realizes that care is just another kind of exposure. the kiss might be a mistake. or it might not. it’s also inevitable.

"The charred, burnt sort of smell was the first thing he noticed. Then, an ache that seemed to stretch across his whole body, a net of pain from head to toe. A ringing in his ears, not quite masking the sound of his rushing blood. And a sea of blackness in front of his eyes, continuing on forever and ceasing instantly at the same time."
Noctis wakes up on the ground, in pain and bleeding, his memory of what exactly led to the situation fuzzy at best. Thankfully, his friends are there with him, unharmed.
Everything is fine. Absolutely fine.

Makima might’ve mentioned that the devil Aki has been partnered with is lazy, but Aki still hasn’t expected this. All day, the devil has been dragging his feet, his gaze lowered to the ground, as if tilting his head upwards required too much effort. Every time Aki asked him to pick up the pace, he was met with a heavy sigh and, if possible, an even more emphasized dragging of feet.
“Would it kill you to do your job?”

Damian screams like he’s being tortured. Dick shushes him gently and tries to hold him closer against his chest comfortingly. It only makes Damian trash harder and scream louder. Dick squeezes his eyes shut tight and grits his teeth.
He stares at the sight in front of him and for a moment he is completely frozen in shock. He shouldn’t be so surprised; O had told him Damian had been dozed with enough fear toxin to take down several grown men. But still.

Summary
It's a morbid place for a game, but a graveyard was a morbid place for anything.
Jason spent a few seconds processing the scene in front of him. Dick the pallor of porcelain, fragile and sallow. He wasn't dressed for the weather, jeans, sneakers, and a plain navy t-shirt wouldn't do much against the sharp chill of late Fall. The wind rustled the few dead leaves that still clung desperately to trees and scattered those who'd let go. Piles of them gathered against the wrought iron fencing. The green grass, diligently maintained, remained under attack by Dick absentminded executions. The grass, so vibrant and alive compared to its dismal gray surroundings, made it look like an image with the exposure turned too far up.

Batman had saved Joker's life before. More than once. He'd probably help, even if he knew. Even if he arrested Jason afterward. Even if it was the last straw.
He dug in his pocket for the signal-blocking case with his free hand. They could track the comm when it was on, if they wanted to. He didn't like to take any chances when he wasn't fine with being found.
Funny, when now he was just hoping they'd care enough to try.
