The phantom of Tony Stark kneels before him, mouth screwed down in a frown, eyes abnormally wide and unfocused. He reaches up to take the other's hand, but Steve pulls away and turns back to the friend he is half carrying.
"Let's leave."
He helps Barnes stumble out of the Siberian bunker without looking back. Steve convinces himself that the soft sobs echoing in the hall have no effect on him.

“Who are you talking to?”
Tony looks up to him, and--oh. He looks past Steve before turning to stare at the wall next to him, wiping the tears off of his face with the back of his hand as he stands. He falls against Steve when he tries to walk past him. Steve says his name again, but Tony just stares at his shaking hands as he tries to brush off the dust no longer there.
“I’m...” Tony’s voice breaks. Steve cannot stop himself as he takes the smaller man’s hands in his own. Tony leans forward and the soldier loses all sense of control and pulls him into a strong embrace. He tries to comfort the broken man in arms, but all of his rehearsed apologies start to suffocate him.
“God, Tony. I know.”

Peter hears yelling once he opens the front door of the compound. He proceeds to the source of of commotion, looking back at the entrance every so often, debating whether he should just come back later before continuing forward.
“Mr. Stark?”
As he walks into the kitchen of the common area, Peter notices that said man has his head tucked in between his knees, muffling his words. He stops when Tony bolts up and turns to the armchair next to him, gesturing his head to the vacant seat across from him.
“Because I told you everything that would happen, and you still left! Why would I think you would trust me now when you couldn’t even trust me then?”
He drops his head as his chest heaves and arms shake at his sides.
“Why didn’t you tell me…?”
