“I’m not that young, sir,” Whitaker mumbled, tapping ash like it was muscle memory. “And it’s not a new habit. Been smoking since I snuck a pack of Newports from my brother’s stash when I was thirteen.”
“How old are you now?”
Whitaker turned to look him in the eye as he took a long drag. “Twenty six," he said like a question.
Robby’s gaze was fixated on the point where Whitaker’s lips wrapped around the filter of the cigarette. Huh. He was right. Twenty six wasn't that young.
Robby finds out Whitaker smokes, and why, then crosses several professional boundaries in his pursuit to take care of the younger man.

“I’d be willing to let you,” Dennis says. Mac twists on the couch to look away from the TV and at Dennis. Dennis’ face is neutral, but as Mac stares, he raises an eyebrow. “Out of the goodness of my heart, or whatever.”
