The field lay drenched in golden light, every blade of grass glowing beneath the afternoon sun. A warm breeze stirred through the clearing, carrying the faint scent of wildflowers and damp earth, sending petals drifting lazily through the air.
Michael’s armor lay discarded at the edge of the clearing, his boots kicked off beside it, his armour a silent testament to the battles he’d fought and the burdens he’d allowed himself to set down, if only for an afternoon.

SNAP
Michael’s hand found the hilt of his sword before he’d even decided to move.
“Who’s there?” he snapped.
A figure stepped out from between the trees.
“Are you going to stab me?” the figure called out amusement in hir voice.
Michael’s shoulders sagged. The sword slipped from his hand, forgotten in the grass. He was on his feet before he could think, crossing the clearing in a few quick strides and pulling William into an embrace.
“Will,” he breathed.

Following the events of Captain America: Brave New World (spoilers), Sam Wilson finds himself knocking on the door of one James Buchanan Barnes for a debrief. He may have a few broken bones, but Sam knew there was still something else he had to do before he could rest up ... he had to tell Bucky exactly how he feels about him.
Or, after Bucky tells Sam: "I love you, buddy", Sam feels guilty that he didn't tell Bucky he loved him too and he does everything he can to fix that.
