Summary
After all, poor Lestat, vomiting his guts up and nodding off sitting down. Poor Lestat, who can’t seem to keep the blood in his system with how often he needs to use the restroom. Poor Lestat, who can’t stomach his usual victims and has to go looking for something to satisfy the urge. Poor Lestat, who has no idea what’s going on.
Poor Lestat. Poor sad, broken Lestat. How could they possibly stay angry at him, when he’s suffering and he has no idea why? That would just be cruel.
And this would make them angry, because they believe him to be a being with enough power to make himself suffer to earn their love. They think him pathetic enough.
He doesn’t even realise he’s crying until the blood drops land on the toe of his shoe.
He can keep it to himself for now. It’s just about him. It’s his business.
If things change or worsen, he’ll tell them.
He swears.

“Oh, va te faire foutre,” Lestat snaps at him. He leans against the vanity once more, hiding his eyes with his hand. He’s biting his lip, Louis can see, to stop himself from wailing more. He sees his throat working, once, twice, as if he’s trying to swallow all of his tears, all of his words. But he can’t stop his weeping, it seems, because red droplets keep falling over his cheeks, his mouth, his chin. He takes a shuddering breath and drops his eyes, looking at Louis, devastated.
He opens his mouth, but Louis shakes his head. “No, no. I can’t do this with you anymore.” He thinks about two years ago, about finding him in the shack, the hurricane around them, how happy he’d felt when he saw him again, how he felt his soul was finally complete after decades. “This was a fucking mistake. You’re right, I don’t understand, I can’t fucking understand what argument you have for this.”
Lestat looks panicked now, his weeping forgotten. When he tries to get closer, Louis raises a hand, stopping him as he walks back.
“You are— you are going to leave me?” Lestat says, his lips barely moving.
