After dying in the fall of Gondolin, Glorfindel and Ecthelion each wake in strange environments, far from anything they have ever known or loved. Ecthelion tries to adjust to this strange new life despite his grief, but as he finally begins to find his footing, danger looms on the horizon, threatening the lives of those he has come to love. Each elf swears an oath: to protect and serve a child they have come to see as their own. But as this cruel world digs in its claws, and horror after horror passes before their eyes, Ecthelion and Glorfindel must fight to hold onto their morals, their loved ones, and themselves.
