    Surely it must be a coincidence?

    Zelda looks to her Father for reassurance, her disbelief escaping her body in the form of an inappropriate scoff. The King however remains indifferent to her silent plea, his gaze remaining fixed on the rest of the room and confirming her fears.

    The tension in her chest snaps and the weight held there sinks deep into her stomach.

    For all his chiding about what he perceived as a lack of devotion to her training, he had clearly deemed marriage a duty that could not wait for the passing of the apocalypse. She was foolish for thinking better of him.

    Zelda’s blood runs hot, overwhelming the nausea.

    Curse him.
