Summary
The problem is— as it turns out— Maki is a really normal guy. He’s polite, and clean, and he takes all of Harua’s suggestions in stride. When he comes home late, he’s quiet enough that Harua doesn’t even hear him. He’s kind, and devastatingly sexy, and he’s shirtless more often than not when they’re home. He’s a good roommate.
Harua wants to destroy him. He can’t live like this. He’s a principled man, and principled men don’t fall for men that rejected them already. That’s humiliating.

Summary
Euijoo is here, just as Nicholas left him, and in the cloud-covered light of early summer, he looks more bronzed than he does golden. There’s no way to tell if he was ever golden at all, or if it was a trick of the light. Something Nicholas unfairly projected onto him.
Nicholas wants to know more. He’s weak to impulse and powerless against obsession. Euijoo sits snugly at the intersection of both.
(OR: Seven years after he ran away, Nicholas is forced to return to his hometown. Despite everything that's changed, he still finds himself inexplicably drawn to Byun Euijoo.)

“First,” Maki glances between them. “You have to promise you won’t like, lock me up. Or call the cops or animal control or something.”
“Did you murder someone? What’s going on?” Harua tilts his head in confusion, Yuma mirroring the concern on his face.
Maki sighs, finally giving up, even though neither Harua or Yuma have agreed to his promises. He yanks the beanie off of his head, his hair flopping down over his forehead, and something else.
It takes a moment for Harua’s eyes to adjust, but when they do it becomes clear why Maki was so worried.
He thinks they must be fake at first. They sell those kinds of things in certain shops and maybe this is just some elaborate prank Maki is pulling on them. There’s no way it could be anything else.
Or: Seemingly overnight, Harua's best friend Maki has grown two puppy ears and a fluffy tail.

Summary
Things Euijoo spots through the alternating blue and magenta lights: Nicholas's body rolling in lithe, synchronized curves; the glimmer of sweat and glitter glancing off his skin; his open-mouthed smile, his little canines. That smile could get under anybody’s skin. A wash of dark relief dampens his nerves—Euijoo’s just human. He’s not immune to that charm, because he’s not special.
They lose touch for five years, but of course Nicholas finds his way back into his life. Now they're rooming together, and Nicholas has a boyfriend, and Euijoo is trying to be the best friend he can be: but Nicholas's reappearance brings the past along with him, and it's all just whittling down the walls Euijoo's built over the years.
