Summary
Hailey's struggled with eating problems for years. It's taken over her life, the littlest things she does. At the same time, she's always hated Zoey. Even longer than she's had eating problems. But now, some of that's changed. Her mind, traitorously, starts envying Zoey, more and more until all Hailey wants is to be like that, like her. Somehow, the two of them get thrust together. An unbidden friendship blooms. The question is, does Hailey really need this?
Or is it doing her more harm than good?

The girl sticks close to Joel’s side, eyes wary, as he guides her back over.

He blinks at the comment, but Joel doesn’t seem offended, even as he rolls his eyes.
