Summary
Zanka stood still, leaning against the concrete wall of an abandoned building as he carefully observed his surroundings. In the distance, he could hear the faint sound of people chatting, probably coming from the bar he had passed before ducking into that run-down alley. Around him, the air lingered still, almost uncannily so. Before then, he would’ve never hung out in such a place, but alas dire times required dire measures.
Suddenly, he felt a shift in the air, along with a faint smell of gasoline. It had been almost imperceptible, like a cat landing on the rooftop of a house, but he instinctively glanced up and his fingers tightened around his staff. Surprisingly, he was met with a pair of magenta eyes looking directly at him with a curious expression. However, Zanka could soon see a wide grin appearing on the person’s face before they jumped down from the windowsill where they were perched on and landed right in front of him.
“You’re a new face here, how did you know of this place?”

"Dazai?" he asks hesitantly.
"Hm?"
"I was scent marking you, wasn't I?"
For a moment Dazai simply looks at him. Then one bandaged hand reaches across the small space between their desks and wraps gently around Atsushi's wrist.
Immediately, Atsushi's attention shifts.
Cherries and whiskey. Plums and rainwater. The scents mingle together effortlessly until he can barely tell where one ends and the other begins. The combination settles something deep inside him. His shoulders loosen. The lingering tension beneath his skin melts away.
Safe.
The thought arrives without warning.
If he closed his eyes right now, if he rested his head on his desk and drifted off to sleep, he knows Dazai would stay. He knows Dazai would make sure nothing happened to him.
"Yep," Dazai says easily. "Just some scent marking."
(Or: After presenting as an omega, Atsushi learns how to be an omega, how to share heats safely, and how to navigate his ever growing feelings for Dazai who also happens to be an omega.)

Mike leans forward very seriously, bringing his face close to Will’s.
“When they make it legal for you to get married, because they will.” He pauses, as if to make sure that Will is listening. Will laughs and nods for him to go on. “And if we’re both still alone and miserable—”
“Wow. Is that the awesome future you’re painting for us on our last night?”
“Shh.” Mike is doing a decent job at staying in character, but the crinkles around his eyes are giving him away. “If we’re both still alone by then… and at least partially miserable. That part’s important,” he continues dramatically, “I’ll marry the shit out of you, William Byers. Deal?”
Or, before heading off to college, Mike and Will make a pact. Fifteen years later, gay marriage is legalized in the state of Massachusetts. These two events are intrinsically linked to one another.
