However, he never expected it to be this - agonizing, miserable, and soul-consuming pain. Hot blood streaming down his back, staining his pale skin rosy pink. Liam could barely hold himself up as he stumbled down the mountain. Legs shaking and body swaying as he tried, and failed, to adjust to his newfound balance. The earlier dose of adrenaline that consumed his whole being when he was downgraded to a prey was starting to wear off, his chest heaved with every breath like it was his last and his muscles screaming in excruciating pain with each step.
Liam grasped at the stones, claws digging into the rock, leaving a trail of marks as he cascaded down the mountain to the isolating forest below - his exile. His hands were stained with blood from his gashing wound on his back, muscles exposed and a waterfall of blood flowing from it, that he managed to stop with desperate hands and old cloth. A temporary fix to a permanent problem.
Or Liam was destined to fall, can he learn how to fly again?

“So,” Isack started, gently nudging Liam’s shoulder to draw his attention away from the brown-haired boy he had spent the whole evening staring at, “How’s your completely inappropriate crush on your prince going?”
“Oh yeah it’s great, I should be killing myself any day now.” Liam scoffed, finding the luke-warm drink in his hands far more interesting than the richly decorated ballroom.
“That bad huh?”
“It’s ridiculous! I’m meant to- I can’t do anything without- ugh.” He groaned, throwing an arm out in exaggeration before taking a sip from his drink and instantly grimacing.
