“You really believe it’s me?” He couldn’t keep the hope out of his voice, like this arrangement was now permanent.
“We study the intersection of science and magic together for a living, why shouldn’t you be Jayce Talis?”
Jayce gets sent back and promises not to fail, but he arrives at the wrong moment in time. He ends up in the academy and runs into Viktor, who is just three years into their tenure working together. Who could blame him for breaking down? Or, s2 Jayce meets s1 Viktor and they both do some soul-baring.

A gasp discovers Viktor’s lungs, and there is music here in this space between spaces, in this form between forms. A single violin is playing frantically, struggling to take flight. Beneath it, a piano is keeping time, urging the violin it to spread its wings. To soar. To see.
Visions flash before Viktor's eyes of what could have been.
Of what is, elsewhere.
The beautiful. The damned.
And what remains.
Or, Jayce shows Viktor more than simply their doomed outcome. Viktor gets dumped into a number of possible timelines. An alternate ending to Arcane Season 2, Episode 9.
