The thing is, Ilya knows he’s being irrational. Shane has never been seriously injured before this, and the injury itself had been nothing more than bad luck. Most nights, Shane sees Marleau coming, dekes around him, and unleashes a killer slapshot. Most nights, he probably scores on the play. Ilya knows this. It’s just that the whole scene—the collision, Shane crumpled on the ice, the med staff hoisting his unresisting body onto the stretcher—has been playing in Ilya’s head on repeat for a week, and he can’t seem to make it stop.
It’s Shane’s first game against the Raiders since his injury. Shane thinks it’s just another game. Ilya … does not.

“They did not ask me,” Lan Zhan says. “If they had, I would have told them that I work better alone. However”—he holds up a hand to forestall what appears to be another torrent of words from Wei Ying—“I have been informed that a co-commentator is a requirement for the Olympic commentary job, and so I will make this situation work.”
Lan Zhan, popular figure skating commentator, reluctantly gains a co-commentator.

The next day, there's a note clipped to the edge of his trellis, along with a little packet of radish seeds: “Thank you for looking after my plot! I was soooo busy with work this last week that I couldn't come to visit it. Your garden is so organized, how do you do it?”
Lan Zhan finally gets a spot in the allotment garden in the park across from his house, and begins a correspondence with the mysterious gardener in the neighbouring plot.

She died at the Immortal Alliance Conference! She was eaten by the Nu Yuan Chan!
