Summary
"Is everything all right?" Emmrich asks, as he enters the room. Rook doesn't turn from where she's pressed her forehead against the cool glass, so he leans into her back, his hands sliding down her arms to intertwine their fingers together.
The answer seems obvious—why would she be doing this if everything was all right?—but she lies anyway, an impulse so immediate she gives in to it without a second thought. "Everything's fine."
Rook struggles with the loss of duty and purpose.

Summary
In the quiet embrace of a rural Chantry, far from the political intrigues of the city, Revered Father Emmrich Volkarin arrives to find solace in simplicity. The village is peaceful, the people kind, and the Chantry itself a sanctuary of devotion. But it is Rook - sweet, caring, and hard working - who captures his attention. As the seasons change, so too does the quiet understanding between them, growing into something deeper, more tender, and far more complicated than either dared to imagine. In a world bound by duty and tradition, their connection becomes a fragile, sacred secret - one that challenges the very foundations of faith, love, and the vows that bind them.

Summary
“Oh, one day we'll get drunk together and trade old childhood war stories,” Rook says flippantly, in a gallant effort to break the tension. “I'm sure Tevinter blood mages are just as inventive with raising children as a Crow.” There's a jesting tone to her voice, but Lucanis recognizes a small, nearly imperceptible quaver. She'll hide it, make jokes about it, but there is a bone-deep fear there under her voice he's been trained to listen for. To find the vulnerabilities in a mark. He would never use this against Rook, but his training, too, is bone-deep.
Rook and Lucanis are more traumatized by their pasts before the Lighthouse than either would care to admit to. Slavery, Crow training, the Ossuary. Emmrich reaches out to both of them, and against the odds, they all manage to fall for each other and perhaps even heal each other along the way.

Summary
For an openly practicing necromancer, Professor Volkarin was a man whose existence seemed devoted to making you forget what blood magic he used on corpses.
Isolde trailed him silently, watching him with as much attention as she gave to scanning the woods for dangers. When Rook had ordered Isolde onto this mission, Isolde hadn’t needed their purposeful, pointed look to know that her assignment wasn’t simply to guide and guard Professor Volkarin through the Arlathan wilderness. The malfunctioning artifact summoning demons too close to Strife’s camp, less than a week after Professor Volkarin had joined their party, was as much an opportunity as it was an obligation. Rook was shrewd; they always had more than one reason for doing anything they did.
Watch him.
A dangerous man, witnessed only by a lowly guard, might well give himself away.

Summary
This was the worst timeline:
The one where the Evanuris were victorious and plunged the world into blighted madness. Where everything went so wrong, got so fucked up for both the Veilguard and the Dreadwolf’s elven forces….Solas and Varric were thrust into an alliance as shaky and desperate as their last gambit ritual.
Forced to work together to avoid further loss, it was unquestionably clear they would need more than just any Rook:
Varric would pick someone down-to-earth. Someone who thought quickly on their feet. Someone fade-sensitive from a successful resurrection, and whom he owed a debt to that could never be repaid.
Solas would select his target as one sympathetic to his elven cause and with a unique… advantage. One that made her perfect to negotiate support with the Wardens, Dalish, and Southern Thedas.
In all the other worlds, the Veilguards crumbled and failed their missions. Except for the Ingellvar orphans, Evie and Ivy, both too stubborn for their own good and too brave to accept anything else but absolute victory over the gods.

Summary
A Nugflix Original.
Necropolis city. Home to six bustling boroughs controlled by six gangs that, despite their ruthlessness, somehow managed to get along...for the most past. As long as no one stupidly stuck their nose where it didn't belong.
At least, until two years ago, when Johanna Hezenkoss became mayor and with her secret police, the Gloaming Watch and her top necromancer, Emmrich 'Volcarnage' Volkarin, absorbed three of the gangs while completely eradicating the fourth. The Grey's of Little Hossberg were the only gangs left to fight back, along with the scattered remaining members of the fallen gangs.
For over a decade, Zea 'Rook' Thorne has held nothing but hatred for Emmrich. Yet, recently his behavior towards her has become....alarming. Her own feeling towards the old necromancer had begun to change and she hated every minuet of it. But the two were powerless to stop the inevitable collide.

Summary
“What were you thinking?”
Emmrich's anger was not a loud thing. Instead, it simmered just underneath the surface, a quiet roil as he frowned in displeasure at Rook's latest display.
“What? No one’s dead now, are they?” She rolled her eyes at him, sitting on his desk, crossing her feet at her ankles with the sort of casualness he feared would become the death of her. “Well, besides those Venatori, but that was kind of the point.”
A headache steadily built at the back of his eyes, needling at the base of his skull at Rook’s flippant attitude — to her own life no less!
“Indeed,” Emmrich managed to say through gritted teeth. A breath in. A breath out. Still, his eye twitched. “However, there surely were ways to do that without almost killing yourself, darling.”
—
Or, Emmrich is most displeased with Rook’s recklessness getting her nearly killed again and again. Rook reminds him she’s very much still alive with a distraction.
