   Everybody told him he’d go to hell.

   Some spat it at him, their expressions twisted with anger, disgust, hatred. Others preached it solemnly, gravely, telling him that he would go to hell for his sins. Simon had heard it so often that it had become his truth, even if he didn’t believe in it.

   One day, upon his death, Simon would go to hell to burn there.
