Summary
Joshua was 19 when his heartstrings were tugged over the blond figure sitting next to him while he was watching the cherry blossom tree. Now he is 29, and the same figure asks for a seat under the oak tree.

Summary
"I just thought of wandering around the best things in Tokyo for two more days and then go back home."
Honestly, Seungcheol already knows it isn't a good thing to hope for spontaneous ideas to come to his mind about what to do in a place that's not home. Another country, even. Even if he already had his footsteps laid in a few places in Tokyo before.
"I'm the best thing in Tokyo."
or
Seungcheol thought his unplanned solo trip had gone wrong, but he didn't realise it was actually heading in the right direction.

Summary
Seungcheol stares at him some more. “There… there was a portal in my room. I landed here and… uh. I smacked the shit out of my head on your side table.”
“A… portal?”
Seungcheol nods, and he’s still holding Jihoon’s face in tight hands, like he might slip away any second. Jihoon can’t let go either, anchored to a time he lost. He wipes some of the dried blood from Seungcheol’s forehead with a harsh thumb to look at the cut. It’s thin and scabbing over already, which is a relief, at least.
He can’t see Seungcheol die twice. He really wouldn’t be able to survive it a second time.
---
OR: Many years ago, Jihoon agreed to one date, and then another, and then many others. Now, with his husband six feet under, he thinks of another Jihoon agreeing to the same thing.
OR, REDUX: What is grief if not love persevering?

Summary
“Jihoon, I know it’s been a long time. Years –” Seungcheol says desperately, muffled by the wood of the door. “But my boat is wrecked, I don’t have anywhere else to go. I know you probably hate me, and never want to see me again – hell, you ran away to the fucking ocean to not have to see me, which is fair, but… please.”
Please.
Jihoon fights back a scoff, but the house does not. The walls shake with it, and the deadbolt doesn’t budge.
Or: Seungcheol never learned how to stay, and Jihoon never learned how to stop wanting him to anyway.

Summary
“Listen—I know Coach had to really cajole you to let me stay here, and I just wanted to say thank you. And I’ll do my best to stay out of your way as much as possible.”
Jihoon turns around and blinks owlishly. He furrows his eyebrows and then blinks again, maybe a little taken aback by the manners. He’d been expecting the absolute worst. “Oh. It’s not really about being in my way or anything,” he says. “I’m just not good with kids, so…”
Seungcheol blinks owlishly right back. “Well, I’m not a kid. So, that’s good?”
---
OR: Jihoon, an accountant in small-town British Columbia, gets stuck housing the twenty year old captain of the local junior hockey team for nine months.

Summary
“You play a lot?”
“I do. That loss was a fluke.”
Jeonghan hums. “I’m sure it was.”
“It was!” Seungcheol pouts as she sets the cue ball in front of Jeonghan.
Jeonghan leans closer to Seungcheol, getting right in her face. “You’ll just have to prove it, won’t you?”

Summary
In the span of Joshua's single lifetime, Junhui had lived a thousand. Each lifetime was etched into the face of the next; another crinkle in the corner of his eyes, another wrinkle on his forehead when he worried, a deeper line hiding between his lips and his nose that reappeared every time Junhui smiled. Joshua had traced them with his fingers, committing all of them to memory, guessing where he would find the next and wondering how long it would be before he found out if he was right.
or: Joshua spends eternity penning a love song Junhui can never remember
