Summary

Rescued, but imprisoned, Zuko finds himself no further from death on a water tribe ship. Sokka, the chief, would see him bleeding out on the boards of the deck as justice. He's a fire bender, the evil of the war that his father rages through their world. Zuko hasn't been a part of that war. Not for years. Now he's thrust back into it against his will, finding himself fighting on a side he never expected to be a part of. Maybe he'll find a cause worth fighting for; someone worth fighting for.

Two years later, Mai conceived. The healers spoke with bright certainty: a daughter would be born. They named her Izumi. For three short years, the Fire Nation knew warmth.
Then the strange sickness came. No fire could burn it away, no herb or ritual could touch it. Little Izumi faded, and died without explanation.
Mai broke. She blamed herself entirely—believed her own coldness, her lack of warmth, had killed their child. She withdrew into silence, then into wild, desperate grief, until the court could bear it no longer. Summary
When the national tour of Sokkas favourite band is playing in his own city, Sokka can't help but hope that the lead guitarist remembers him from four years ago, after a chance encounter back when Fire Nation Royalty was just a local legend playing in bars and clubs across town, and Sokka used a fake ID to see them play.
What he doesn't know is said lead singer is hoping just as much that he will find a blue-eyed water tribe boy in the audience that he has spent the last four years thinking about.

Summary
Sokka doesn't exactly love his job at Kenji's Pet Emporium; but, it helps pay his rent while he's studying at The University of Ba Sing Se. He's glad, really, that Aang got him this job after working some kind of magic with the owner.
He's definitely glad he has the job when a cute stranger walks in, looking for help with his new pet.
What he doesn't know is that Zuko, new bird owner and transfer student, has a lot of secrets he's never told anyone. Having a crush on the boy who works at the pet store is just the newest one.
