John found his quarry at her usual table deep within the library’s stacks. She was hunched over a scroll, glaring at the parchment as if she could force the answers she sought from the page by the sheer force of her will alone. “No luck with the wizard I take it?”
The warrior woman glared up at him as she reached out and took another page from the stack of parchments beside her. “No it was great. I’m sailing home curse free right now.” -

Summary
You only manage to ignore Her for a week. Your fingers get itchy, your brain fuzzy. Your leg jumps as you sit in shitty diners drinking shitty coffee wishing you could bring yourself to pick up any other kind of work. Idleness doesn’t agree with you. It never has. You think of maybe going back to Miami and sitting at that bar. Drinking something that tastes of not-actually-strawberry through a swirly straw. That thought gets cut short, though, on account of the way it makes you feel as though you’ve taken a spray of pellets to the abdomen and a four-by-four to the head at once.
