    In another universe, the Darkling finds a second Sun Summoner, a Fjerdan woman with a biddable nature and an ease with her Light that makes her the perfect candidate for his plans. In this universe, Alina Starkova is useless to him, a too-weak distraction that he has no use for. In this Universe, Alina Starkova is lost to him, broken and worthless. He is triumphant.
