Adrian's presence had obviously been missed. Rocky had heard confused murmurs, but no one from his family had asked him about their absence directly until now. They didn’t yet ask him much in general, despite how clearly curious they all were.
“They are staying with Grace,” Rocky said.
This caused a rise in the chitter, as more skittered closer as well. Savior Grace, yes, savior Grace, tell us of them! they all chirped.
And how could Rocky deny them? He could talk about Grace without end, and now, surrounded by his family, he wanted nothing more than to convince them to love Grace, too.
Rocky considers how to make Erid feel more like a home for Grace. A family introduction through a festival seems like a great starting point.

“Grace is so lazy!” Rocky huffed, his carapace rumbling with frustrating indignation. “Rocky ask for simple things, and Grace is too busy. Rocky could be dying! And Grace ignores Rocky requests. Grace terrible human, statement!”
Ryland groaned. Ryland scrunched his nose. Ryland gave Nanny Bot a look so pleading that the arm turned to ignore him.
“Get me a blanket!” Rocky demanded.
Then Ryland threw his hands up and stomped the whole way to the storage room, just to show how mad he was.

Or:
Rocky’s sick. Rocky’s sick with the Eridian equivalent to the common cold, and he’s ruining Grace’s life.

Summary
Adrian lingers at the entrance of Rocky's workshop, clicking their claws nervously.
"The Recordkeepers took Grace away earlier," they chitter. "They had him try on his mating ceremony outfit. Apparently, the tailors finished it just a few cycles ago."
Rocky stills—his tools hovering precariously over half-soldered xenonite, current task forgotten. Equal parts dread and desire wash over him, and he shudders at the mental waveform being conjured. "And what did you think?"
Softly and sadly, Adrian admits, "Grace sounded beautiful in it. Beautiful in the sense that a butterfly is beautiful when its wings are pinned to a base for display. A gorgeous specimen, twisted to fit standards it was never meant to conform to."
Or: Arranged marriages are common practice on Erid. It should come as no surprise when Rocky and Adrian are made to take Grace as their mate.
