Summary
This is a parallel universe in which, if astrophage existed, it was better controlled by the taumoeba population, and even if that wasn't enough, at some point some space shenanigans threw Enterprise there (any of them), so they solved it.
In the meantime Grace lives his live without any kidnapping, and Simon has a relatively normal history. All here, on Earth.
I wonder what happens when they are thrown in different situations together.

Summary
Set in the modern, normal universe with no astrophage, Simon spends most of his days puttering around and doing jack all after his life was upended by a sudden disbanding of the (rather infamous) death metal band he was part of. After encouragement from his co-workers, Simon attends the first concert he's been to in years. As a result, Simon is immediately enamored by this blond guy working the merch table.

Summary
It is about a week and half into Jon's posting on the U.S.S. Magnus that a mission goes badly enough for him that he finally meets the medical hologram in the medbay. Jon has never been introduced to a sentient hologram before, but Martin seems far more lifelike and easy to talk to than some of his crewmembers. Unfortunately, (or perhaps fortunately, given that he actually likes seeing Martin) several of his away missions seem to end in injury. He and Martin grow fairly close. Close enough that Jon finds his thoughts wandering to the warm touch of Martin's hands in his and fixating on the brightness of Martin's smile.
A run in with a Lonely ship may serve to change that.
