Something about the way he says it registers deep in her bones. The words seem innocent enough, but she catches the meaning underneath them. The question.It looks like they’re talking about this, then. The tension. The pull between them she had been most adamantly ignoring. The very thing she’d hoped to die before ever addressing.
“That’s ridiculous. No one can handle me,” she says, risking a glance up, “To even make an attempt would be signing a request in blood to have your heart promptly stomped on, autopsied, and cremated.”
Tyler holds her gaze, lifting his shoulder in what must be a painful shrug, “That doesn’t mean I don’t want to try.”
