Summary
Antonio nods. “Don’t be like that, brother,” he says. “You knew this was coming.”
“I thought we had more time before the next Game,” Afonso admits his wishful thinking. “The new Joker, is it–”
“It won’t be you or your Queen, rest assured,” Antonio says with a more sincere smile. “It won’t be anyone who’s already been Named. They’re never chosen for this role.”
“And the Game?”
Antonio laughs. “Oh, you know I’m not allowed to tell you about that!”
With the turning of a new cycle, Afonso is forced to confront the past he would rather forget. Time is running out. Soon enough, he would have to make a choice between the Queen he swore to serve and the brother he once failed to save.
And Antonio? Antonio just wishes his brother would live to see the future.

Summary
What it was about the sea that called to him so was a mystery, but whatever such magic or hidden memory it was, it was powerful. There was no denying it. It was the only thing he was certain he needed: to hear the sea, to see the sea, to be here right next to the sea. There was an innate joy he felt in its presence. And not just joy, but peace; not just peace, but comfort.
On days like this one, it was clear to Gabriel that this was where he was meant to be.
