Summary
Serena’s always believed that nothing is perfect, and she still believes that now, even with Matt. Especially with Matt. His eyes are always so wide it looks like it hurts, as if he’s perpetually been caught committing a crime. His taste in music and movies is at least three decades behind. His hair stays absolutely flat no matter how much hair putty he puts in it. Also, he spends way too much money on hair putty. So, no, he’s not perfect.
But when Serena turns over in her bed to find Matt on the other side of it, his wide eyes now shut, his hair mussed by the pillow that now smells like his shampoo, she finds that he’s pretty close to it.

“Ava Coleman, holder of the second ticket,” she says, flashing a grin to the concessionaire. “Add another slushie cup to that order, please. And a large popcorn.”
“And who’s paying for the slushies and popcorn, Ava?” Jacob whispers when the concessionaire turns around.
“If not you, then no one. I expected better from you, Jacob Hill. I can’t believe that you’d stab chivalry in its already-dead heart.”
It’s egregious guilt-tripping, as egregiously guilt-tripping egregious guilt-tripping can get. Jacob still pays for the slushies and popcorn.
(Or: Season Three made it canon that Jacob and Ava watched Saltburn together and I’m still not over it)

Gregory scrubs his hands to get the dirt off of them, and then he keeps on scrubbing, his hands red and raw by the time Jacob says, “Alright, that’s enough,” and leans over to shut off the sink for him. He can already feel his skin cracking from how much he’s dried out his hands. Or maybe it’s his heart cracking his body open from the inside out.
The day after is rough.

The sabbatical’s only supposed to last a year, yet Whitaker can’t shake the feeling that once Robby leaves tonight, he’ll never be back. He’s not ready for Robby to leave the Pitt, not ready for Robby to leave him.
So maybe Whitaker won’t let him leave.
“Do you think Gloria would be upset with me if she found out I broke the rules by coming up here?” he asks. “Or do you think she’d understand if I told her it was only because I saw you going up to the roof first?”
Slowly, Robby turns to face Whitaker, the two divided by the railing Robby’s supposed to be standing behind. “Jackson Pollock,” he says, “are you blackmailing me?”
