Summary
Daniel has never particularly liked hearing people call Armand "Mr. de Romanus."
It's pretentious. It barely sounds like him. And maybe some stupid, primitive part of Daniel's brain doesn't particularly enjoy his companion walking around with another man's name.
He keeps that last part to himself.
Mostly.
It's not like it matters, anyway.
Until, apparently, it does.

Summary
In the dream, Armand is standing in the corner, crying. He holds the backs of his own arms. He says, very clearly, childlike in his plaintiveness, "Nobody ever comes looking for me."
The first time Louis has the dream is also the first time that he realizes he could feel guilty about Armand, if he wanted to. Ten more dreams before he decides that he might. Twenty more before he knows that he does.

Summary
Over the last thirty years, Armand has come to find he likes being the boy’s keeper. He enjoys responsibility. In another life he thinks he could have been a father— and a better one than Daniel, at that. He can see the appeal in taking something young and empty and filling it with all the things he believes a person should have. He was young once, and emptier than Daniel has ever been. Despite everything he remains grateful to every hand that ever pulled him out from nothingness.
Grateful is one word for it. Obligated is another.
[Four decades of Armand checking in on Daniel and reporting to Louis. No AI.]

Summary
Then came the matter of turning their new house into a home.
Daniel, hard-wired to think like an addict, couldn’t help but find all the little nooks and crannies where he, in another life, would’ve stashed his drugs. He chose not to tell Armand about those thoughts. Besides, as a vampire the best rush he could hope for was the one he achieved from draining humans under the influence—couldn’t very well set up a crack den in his cupboard, now could he.
