As he was flipping the noodles though, he noticed one of the noodles looked different than the rest. He plucked it out of the strainer and low-and-behold, it was two little corkscrews locked together. He slowly started to pull them apart, but the little screws clung onto each other, gripped on for dear life. He looked down at the corkscrews twisted and wrapped together, and put them back into the strainer, still attached.
It reminded him of a couple of other silly little corkscrews. One who clung, and the other who slipped away. Or maybe his memory was wrong. Maybe the other corkscrew let go.
He can’t get those goddamn corkscrews out of his head.

Summary
Dean Winchester is a twenty-five-year-old travel nurse with nothing but a car to his name and wild oats to be sown. Suffice it to say, but he’s not looking for anything serious when he meets Cas Novak, a travel doctor with big blue eyes and a stupid-hot face, and the two of them spend the next few years bumping around different emergency rooms and bumping uglies any chance they get. It’s the perfect no-strings arrangement until Dean catches full-on feelings for the guy, which, given that Cas is even more committed to the no-commitment lifestyle than Dean is, is a pretty stupid thing to do.
Castiel Novak has never been one for casual relationships, but after working so hard during his residency, he deserves to have a little fun. And Dean Winchester, with his green eyes and his crooked smile and his perfectly freckled skin, is fun. And yes, perhaps Castiel should have known better than to hope for their no-strings arrangement to one day lead to something serious, but he comes to his senses eventually. He knows now that Dean is never going to feel the same way.

Dean Winchester knows two things about hockey, two things his dad made sure he knew. One, hockey is a guy’s sport, and two, hockey is family. Hockey meant Sam and Bobby and Benny and Victor and Gabriel and hell, his entire team. So when Victor gets traded, Russian-star-turned-new-teammate Castiel Krushnic becomes a threat. As much as Dean hates him for that, the longer he sticks around, the more he begins to threaten that first rule too. Dean’s been taught his whole life that those who play hockey should not be captivated by deep accented voices and the way a guy handles his stick, so how the hell is he supposed to justify what he’s starting to think about Cas? All Dean wanted at the beginning of the season was to win, and now all he wants to do is figure out how he feels about Cas and how to deal with it without ruining his career and tearing his family apart.
