His mom doesn't like when he calls himself that. She tells him that he's just growing, and that everyone grows different so there's nothing wrong with him, but Mike knows she's lying.
Not necessarily because she likes to lie, even though she lies all the time, but she lies because she loves him. Friends don't lie, but family lies to make you feel better about yourself because they know that something about you is wrong and there's nothing they can do to help fix it.
The truth is that Mike is a freak, and he's twelve years old, and he's somehow six feet and seven inches tall.
