Summary
Luffy has loved two people his whole life: his big brother Ace and Ace's best friend Sanji.
For as long as he can remember, it was always the three of them. Sanji cooking too much food "just in case," Ace teasing them both mercilessly and Luffy tagging along like he belonged there, because he did. He watched as Ace and Sanji fell in love without fully understanding what he was watching. He just knew he loved them both, in his own uncomplicated way.
Then Ace died, and Sanji disappeared.
Not all at once. First the missed hangouts, then the excuses, then the silence, until the man who once said "I'll always be here for you" became someone Luffy barely recognized. Luffy tells himself it's grief. He tells himself Sanji just needs time, that he's still trying to protect Luffy from a pain he's already made peace with.
He has no idea he's the reason Sanji can't stay.
Now in college, determined to prove he's not the fragile kid Sanji still sees, Luffy sets out to win his friend back. Never once suspecting that what he actually feels for Sanji stopped being simple a long time ago. And Sanji, still drowning in grief he never let himself finish, is the last person who'll let himself notice it first.
