Summary

Shikamaru had seen the promotion coming. He didn't want it but he couldn't say no. He didn't know the guy promoted with him, Uzumaki Naruto. He had never seen him in the village, to be exact. That was weird. They were the same age, they should have been classmates at the Academy. Unless... his teammates weren't his teammates, more like bodyguards. But why? Being the Hokage's son hardly was reason enough (Asuma had never had bodyguards). Could there be something else? Not that Shikamaru cared. He didn't. Nope. He had other problems to deal with.
