"Ev'n," Tommy rasps.
"Why would you make me listen as you—"
He tries to get the word out, but his gut twists and churns, and he almost drops the phone when he vomits. It's thin and milky and sour, and in it are bits of the cupcake batter he'd been sneaking while he waited for the croissant dough to thaw slightly.
It starts to spread a little on the tile, getting into the grout lines. He should wipe it up, because the cleaning deposit for this place was insane, but he can't move. Buck just stares at it, shivering. He's freezing all of a sudden.
"'m sorry," Tommy wheezes, the words slowing, becoming a little quieter with each one. "Y'never… didn't think you'd… pick up."
Buck coughs up the acid lingering in the back of his throat and swallows it back down; it burns the entire way, but he's still cold. "Then why—"
"J'st wanted… to hear y'r voice…."

Boston, while they usually draft players they know to be aggressive, see Shane Hollander, classically Canadian, composed, and calculating, and realize they have an opportunity. Not to reform their image necessarily, but to put out the narrative of a better influence. No one expects Shane Hollander to snarky, suave, and all together trouble for the league.
Montreal sees Ilya Rozanov for exactly what he is, brutal, talented, and masculine. He’s the leadership the Voyagers need, he’s tough on his teammates, on himself, and he doesn’t take shit from anybody. However, he’s too quiet off the ice, and it’s unsettling. He’s everything and nothing they thought he would be.
