There was a beast in forest that separated the Compound, the Duke's court from the town. Josie was desperate join the court, to escape small town life, to be something more than the Pastor's daughter and maybe later a Pastor's wife. But her father banned her and Lizzie from ever going across that bridge, and all she had was Hope connecting her to that mysterious world.
Hope was cursed. To be a mindless beast every full moon. Hope was cursed, to rule the supernatural world that was mismangaed with an understaffed court and immortal and mortal creatures who all wanted something from her life. She wanted someone to see her for her. To be able to breathe the fresh air and not smell blood and hate and mistrust. To not accidently kill the townsfolk who won't stop coming for her.
Lizzie was tired of the whispers. Lizzie was tired of being managed. Lizzie was tired of episodes and not knowing what was wrong in her head. She wanted someone who would love her. She was scared to be a spinster. She was scared to be alone. And she was feeling Josie slip away.

Wednesday Addams has a LOT of feelings – so many, in fact, that if she didn't work very, very hard to maintain rigid control, they would regularly overwhelm her. This includes feelings for her roommate, which she mostly deals with by keeping both the feelings and the roommate at a safe (but not too distant) distance.
This becomes rather more difficult when Enid faces an unimaginable tragedy.
