Summary
Alastor works for V, an American restaurant company founded by his friends and built on efficiency, technology, and taking as much of the human element out of dining as possible.
His latest assignment sends him to New Zealand for three months to negotiate with Eden, a family restaurant now run by Charlie Morningstar, over the land it occupies. There he meets her father, Lucifer—a former head chef at one of New York’s most renowned restaurants, now withdrawn from the culinary world and struggling with depression after the death of his wife, with whom he built the place.
For Alastor, it is supposed to be just another business trip.
Instead, those three months will change everything.
