She flicks a piece of hair away from her brow. “Right, I think a dip in the river would be perfection. If you’re lucky, I might just let you pitch what you’re selling. Deal?”
He catches her in a few long strides. “I’m not pitching—” He bites back a frustrated sigh. “This is a matter of diplomacy, Ms. Nichols.”
“Good,” she says, tossing another blinding smile over her shoulder. “I was worried you might be a poor representative of your… company? What did you call yourself again?”
“Paladin. Adam Danse.”
“Wow, that is a title, Adam.” Her voice wobbles a bit on his name, and when he scans her profile she quickly releases her lip from between her teeth. “Do you mind if I call you Adam?”
