“Worried about me, Hollander?”
A few months ago, Shane would’ve called him an asshole and left him in this dingy hospital room alone. A few months ago, Shane would’ve rolled his eyes and thrown back a line about wanting to ensure all his patients were looked after and how he had a responsibility, especially to members of his own firehouse. Hell, a few months ago, maybe Shane wouldn’t have even been here in the first place.
But today, after the scare he’s had and the hours he’s spent really coming to terms with… well, everything, Shane just nods tiredly.
“I was. I was terrified actually. I haven’t left this hospital since I rolled in doing chest compressions on you because we couldn’t get your sinus rhythm back and your heart stopped.”

Summary
Ilya Rozanov was disowned by his father at fifteen and sent to the states to recouperate some of the money his father had lost on all of his hockey training.
Shane Hollander made it all the way to the draft and through the first season of his career, only to lose his father and become disabled in a drunk driving accident.
Yuna Hollander is doing her best to help her extremely depressed son. She also needs to learn to say "no" to helping everyone around her when she's already so overwhelmed, as she's agreed to take in a very traumatized Ilya Rozanov.

“Shane,” he says, dread filling his stomach, “is this Boston Lily’s house?”
“Maybe,” Shane says, dropping down another cooler with a loud bang. “But shhhhh,” he says, putting a finger to his lips, “you can’t tell, okay?”
“Shane,” Hayden says, a little desperately. “Shane, we have to go.”
“No,” Shane says, drunk and stubborn and pushing the doorbell about fifty thousand times in quick succession until Hayden pulls his arm away.
“Shane,” Hayden says, nearly a plea, “listen, I know she broke your heart, but dropping off two hundred pounds of tuna isn’t-”
Before he can finish telling Shane that a drive-by tuna fishing isn’t a cure for a broken heart, the door opens. When it does, though, it’s not some buxom Boston beauty in a silky negligee.
It’s Ilya fucking Rozanov.
Hayden’s one consolation in this mindfuck is that at least Rozanov looks equally surprised at finding himself in this situation.
(while drowning his sorrows post tuna meltdown, shane ends up in possession of approximately two hundred pounds of raw tuna) (naturally, there's only one person he wants to gift with such a bounty)

Two stupid, ugly thin blue lines.
Shane and Ilya hookup once without protection. Ilya finds out his pregnant a month later.
Basically, just before the tuna melt Ilya discovers he's pregnant. Ilya and Shane have to figure out how they feel about each other and deal with a baby.
