Summary
Odysseus laughed and looked a boy again, the years falling off him. Eurylochus found himself grasping his king’s shoulder, wanting to touch him, the man he’d followed across the sea, whom he’d hoped to follow back.
His thumb moved at the back of Odysseus’ neck and he felt him shudder unconsciously under the touch, and suddenly a plan slid into place, unwanted, and Eurylochus knew he would, in the end, lead these men, if only to their destruction.
