Caesar, Joseph had come to realise as he got older, was beautiful.
On one occasion, Joseph had pretended to be the artist, tapping his fingers along defined muscle and sinew. The bones down those large hands, now smaller than Joseph’s and a perfect fit under his fingers. Joseph caught the unseeing gaze of the man and had flinched away, fleeing as he had in playtime’s past.
