Adrian would love to take care of their mate. Adrian cannot tell their community that Rocky is still high above them, still in the spaceship that houses the sick, dying alien Rocky refuses to leave. Adrian will take care of Rocky when they return, but they have not yet returned, and so there is nobody for Adrian to care for at all.
Adrian has waited four hundred and thirty-one years for their mate. Their mate, upon returning to them, has an alien. Adrian will adjust. Just like they always have.

Summary
If this were a movie scene she would be screaming or crying right now. She can see it so clearly: it would be so loud, it would catch the leading man’s attention, never mind how loud the music outside was, and he’d come running to save her. He’d break down the door and beat the guy up before carrying her out to safety. Happy ending, move onto the next scene.
Or if it were a darker sort of movie…
Jody’s body goes cold. She doesn’t want that kind of ending.
Jody is supposed to be having a fun night out with Colt and the rest of her crew. When one man can't accept rejection, it all goes horribly wrong.

Jody swiftly took in the facts.
Colt had been sitting here in the cabin of his truck, door wide open and the engine off, for the better part of twenty minutes. He hadn't bothered reaching over to turn on the A/C. Colt Seavers, who couldn't normally sleep with any covers on and who ripped his costume jacket off his shoulders first thing after a set wrapped for the day and who complained loudly about his brain being fried over easy from the heat when the car wasn't cooled to a perfect seventy-four degrees.
And, more tellingly, he wasn't moving. He was staring fixedly at the sorry state of his boots below him, but he wasn't lifting a finger to rectify it.
Oh, hell.
Jody's tone gentled without her knowledge. The hand that had been cupping the side of his face five minutes ago slid upward now to tug softly at the strands of sun-bleached hair over his brow.
“You can't bend down,” she realized aloud. “How long have you not been able to bend down? Colt, how long has your back been in pain today?”

“When would you like a bath?” Rocky asks, lightly tapping against him to ask the question.
“Huh?” Grace asks. Oh… right. It’s not like Grace will be able to give himself the sponge baths he’s been forced to give himself on the Hail Mary for the last four years. (At this point he’d give anything to take a regular shower again, even a bath would do. The water doesn’t even have to be warm, he just wants to feel clean again). “Mmm, today? Might as well get it over with,” Grace says, “Armando’s all set up, yeah?”
Rocky looks offended? He clicks his claws at Grace in that way he does when he’s annoyed at him and Grace has no idea what he did. Rocky huffs at him, “I will do it,” he says.

Summary
While on the way to Erid, Grace gets what he believes is food poisoning. He chalks it up to Earth being in such a rush to let the Hail Mary set sail. Even if the quality of food seems like a /particularly/ important factor in the health of the astronauts that will end up saving their species. But who is he to say? He’s not that kind of doctor.
After all, it’s nothing he can’t handle, even with Armando spontaneously out of commission. A little bit of an upset stomach never killed anyone.
Although, this is an /exceptionally/ bad case of food poisoning..
OR
Grace's shitty human biology almost kills him, and Rocky has to save the day. They eventually end up dumping their hearts out to each other. I dunno, don’t ask me!

Rocky stands at the entrance of the dorm.
“Grace ok, question?”
“…no bud. I’m not.”
“…” Rocky seems to want to step forward, thinks better of it, then shrinks away at the admission, the ball wobbling as he takes a step back. On the far edge of the bed. Grace takes stark notice of the berth and feels cold. His fingers pluck absentmindedly at the sideseams of his shirt. “Grace upset. At Rocky, question?”
Grace doesn’t respond right away, letting the question sink in. Rocky doesn’t push, for which he can only thank tirelessly. He can’t let himself relish in the final moments he will ever hold Rocky’s respect, not when they are so tinged with tension. He clears his throat.
“Let me tell you a story, ok? I think it might help.”
Or
There’s this thing about waves: the longer they lap at wet sand, the denser it gets. And Grace is choking on sand that’s been there for years.

Frank stutters to his feet, swaying like he’s six gins in, but he doesn’t have time for that goddamn shit right now. He starts to move, and his vision is still narrowed, a horse close to spooking. Except he’s spooked. He’s goddamn spooked. His heart is bleeding out his ears.Frank knows he has to get there, and he starts climbing down, and what he wouldn’t give for that parkouring asshole to be here right now, so he could get to the island in seconds instead of the unearthly amount of time it’s gonna take him. He hates this congested city, and all the fucking people everywhere, and he’s moving faster than he has in a long time.
Everyone is running and crying and recovering, and he slams through the emergency door in the station and sets off the alarm. It bangs around in his head and sets his thoughts on fire worse than they already were.
He watches him drop. Over and over again, like a doll hitting the floor.

No… someone.
They seemed to be observing the towel, claws tapping against the material with what he took as curiosity, pinching it between the appendage.
Was it Rocky? It’d make sense, the Eridian would certainly have something harsh to say about him leaving his stuff laying around. He always had some mean quip to insult his shoddy human memory.
He opened his mouth to defend himself before Rocky could say something snappy, when the figure then moved, stocky legs rising from beneath their carapace and lifting them to their full standing height.
They were tall. Too tall.
That wasn’t Rocky.
