Summary
With a quiet voice, the man asks, "Do you happen to have any roses in stock?" His voice is a little muffled from the face mask but still clear, delicate almost.
Perking up at the welcome diversion, Hua Cheng answers on autopilot, "You are just in luck! We got a new bundle, fresh from the orchards, today! I'll grab them for you right away."
He does not grab them right away. Actually, he doesn't really move at all. From here, it's clear to see the roses in the left aisle are all close to dead. So he just smiles at the customer, willing the flowers to sprout back up with life. They ought to, a blessing has just walked through the door after all.
OR Flower Shop Owner!Hua Cheng finds (or more accurately, is found by) Tattoo Artist!Xie Lian after years of searching. It makes him feel a lot of emotions, both good and bad.

Hua Cheng’s heart was beating fast. Would this be his cause of death? Probably.
“Besides,” Xie Lian continued with a bright smile. “I like spending time with San Lang! The place is like our little secret hideout.”

Or.Everything was dull to Hua Cheng until his senior, Xie Lian, stumbled upon the empty courtyard he always liked to stay in. They became fast friends and of fucking course he developed a crush on him.
But maybe the feelings were returned as well.

Xie Lian was just thinking about leaning in for a kiss when he heard the croupier on the other side of the curtain. “My lords, please excuse me. Would my lords like to indulge in some fine wine? A sommelier’s best collection was just lost in a bet.”
Hua Cheng looked fairly disinterested, but Xie Lian blurted his response before he thought about it. “Yes, thank you.” A moment later, ghoulish hands slipped between the curtains to present a tray with two glasses and an ornate decanter filled with deep red liquid.
